Project Highlights
Kindo is a high-end children's clothing and accessories boutique located in Monterrey, Mexico. The store was designed by the well-known design company Anagrama , with the goal of creating a unique shopping space that stands out from the crowd and brings customers a fun and memorable experience . The design team cleverly integrated aesthetics, form and function into a single spatial element . Inspired by a classic children's toy, the "Marble Maze" (a bead maze toy composed of colorful metal curved tubes and beads), the designer enlarged this toy at a 1:1 scale and integrated it into the interior: colorful geometric beads "travel" along the colorful pipes throughout the store space . This bold creativity makes the store like a giant toy box for children to explore, exuding childlike fun everywhere.
The Kindo store uses a giant "bead maze" toy as the core of its design: colorful curved pipes wind through the space along the ceiling, connecting various display areas, as if planning a wandering route for children to explore and adventure. Soft pastel tones are paired with bright neon blocks to create a lively and comfortable visual atmosphere . As can be seen in the picture, the pink, purple, and tender green curved pipes are both clothing hanging rods and connected to large geometric "bead" props, cleverly integrating the display function with decorative interaction. The entire store seems to have become a large installation for children to play and participate in, making the shopping process full of surprises and fun. (Photo source: Anagrama )
Design Point 1 : Maze Routes from a Child’s Perspective (Adventure Sense vs. Order)
Walking into the Kindo store, the first thing that catches your eye is the maze-like circulation design that runs through the entire store. Inspired by the toy "marble maze", the designer arranged winding colored pipes in the ceiling and space to guide customers to shuttle between various product areas . For children, these winding routes are full of adventure and fun, as if they have entered a fairy-tale amusement maze; while for parents and adult customers, although the circulation is intentionally designed to be winding, it is not messy and disordered. The challenge faced by the design team is to maintain spatial order and practical circulation while ensuring fun and dynamics . They cleverly "untied and re-entangled" the maze route, transforming the originally messy toy path into a functional layout: the curved pipes are arranged at a reasonable height and spacing, which will not hinder the customer's walking circulation, and at the same time provide sufficient hanger hanging and display space . As a result, the Kindo store has achieved a balance between a sense of adventure and a sense of order - allowing children to explore the store excitedly, while ensuring that the shopping flow is clear and efficient, and does not affect the display of goods and customer circulation. The design creates an "edutainment" space experience: customers seem to be in a maze game, but are actually guided to browse the entire store in an orderly manner . This ingenious traffic line design makes the shopping journey full of surprises, and also reflects the ability of excellent commercial space design to strike a balance between fun and function.
Design point 2: Material combination gives brand recognition and interactive experience
Kindo store are equally impressive. The design uses a mixture of materials such as polished galvanized steel pipes, logs and fiberglass : colored steel pipes form the "maze" frame and clothing hanging rods in the store, logs are used for counters and display racks, and fiberglass is cleverly shaped into enlarged colored "beads" and geometric props . Some of these large beads are hung on steel pipes, while others are used as independent display racks or seats to display accessories, shoes and socks and other goods . For example, props such as pink spheres, mint green rings, and light yellow cubes are distributed in the space, like scattered toy components, but each of them carries practical functions. The clever combination of materials not only meets the needs of safety and durability, but also gives the store a unique brand recognition : Kindo's brand image combines classics and fashion, and likes to use basic geometric shapes and bright colors to reflect the innocent personality . The interior space continues this visual language, with large areas of blank walls and floors dotted with bright props such as neon pink, mint green, and bright yellow, combined with the lively graphic patterns on the brand packaging, to achieve the unity of space design and brand VI . More importantly, these materials and installations also provide an interactive experience : children can touch these "large toys" and even walk around them, which enhances their connection with the environment. From the soft wooden counters to the smooth and colorful fiberglass beads, the tactile and visual stimulation brought by different materials makes the entire shopping space full of interesting interactions. While shopping, customers are surrounded by the joyful atmosphere created by the brand, leaving a deep sensory memory.
Design Point 3: Space is participation, improving experience conversion rate
The design of the Kindo project embodies the advanced retail concept of "space is participation" - turning the store space itself into a part of customer participation and interaction . For children's retail stores, pleasing children means retaining family customers. Kindo successfully transformed the store browsing process into a game experience through the giant toy-like space design: children explore and play in the colorful maze and interact with props, while parents are happy to accompany and appreciate the unique store landscape. This immersive experience effectively extends the time and scope of customers' stay in the store, which helps to improve the consumption conversion rate. Studies have shown that in physical retail, the longer customers stay, the higher the possibility of making a purchase. Therefore, the participatory and interesting environment design in Kindo has invisibly promoted the transformation from "experience to consumption". It is worth mentioning that such experiential space has irreplaceable value in the digital age - when online shopping becomes increasingly convenient, physical stores attract customers to re -enter the store by creating unique experiences . The pleasant and unexpected shopping journey in Kindo stores not only establishes an emotional connection between the brand and consumers, but also increases customers' loyalty to the store and willingness to share: many customers will take photos and check in, and spread them on social media, thus bringing additional exposure and word-of-mouth to the brand. This practice of transforming space design into marketing power is exactly the new trend pursued by modern children's retail stores: improving business performance through interactive experiences and turning a shopping trip into an unforgettable parent-child interaction.
Picsharping 's 1:1 restoration and prop customization capabilities
Although the above Kindo case was not implemented by the Picsharping team, its outstanding design concept and detailed implementation are of great inspiration to us. As a professional commercial space design and engineering implementation team, Picsharping has the ability to restore similar creative concepts to the real environment at a 1:1 scale and create a refreshing children's interactive space. We have outstanding advantages in the following aspects:
Customized curved steel pipes and geometric props: Picsharping is able to conduct special R&D and customized production for curved pipes and large geometric "toy" props like Kindo . We are proficient in the bending and forming process of metal pipes, and can accurately produce steel frame structures of various curvatures according to design drawings; we are also good at using fiberglass, woodworking and other means to create customized geometric props to ensure that the size ratio is completely consistent with the design prototype. Whether it is a hanging colored curved pipe or a 1:1 enlarged bead model, we can reproduce it with high quality.
Process proofing and safe construction: Before construction, the Picsharping team will conduct sufficient process proofing and detail scrutiny to ensure that every prop and structural part achieves the expected effect. During on-site construction, we strictly control the joint processing and stable installation to ensure that the elbow joints are smooth and reliable, and large props are safely hung. All materials and processes meet the safety standards of the children's industry (such as smooth edges, environmentally friendly and non-toxic paint, etc.), making the interactive device beautiful and interesting, durable and safe to use. We provide full-process execution from design deepening, material selection to on-site installation , and fully implement creative concepts into physical space.
Nationwide replication: Picsharping has extensive project experience and supply chain resources across the country, and can support children's retail brands to quickly replicate and implement similar interactive stores in different cities. Whether it is a single-store flagship or a multi-store chain promotion, we can provide a combination of standardization and localization to help brands create a phenomenal space experience . We are well aware of the commercial value behind an online celebrity children's store - it not only attracts traffic and increases sales, but also helps to establish brand tone and popularity. Picsharping is willing to be your partner to help build the next popular children's retail store .
